Robustness, performance and innovation: with the R 948 G8, R 952 G8 and R 958 G8 models, Liebherr expands its crawler excavator portfolio in the 50-tonnes class. Developed to meet the demands of earthmoving, extraction and heavy-duty applications, the new machines combine a robust design, outstanding performance, the new emCAB operator’s cab, and state-of-the-art assistance and machine technologies.
With the new R 948 G8, R 952 G8 and R 958 G8 models, Liebherr is further expanding its range in the 50-tonne crawler excavator segment and offers the right solution for every application.
The R 948 G8, which is conceived for earthmoving works, features an LC chassis, specialist equipment and optimised motorisation to ensure low fuel consumption without compromising on power. The centrepiece of the series is the R 952 G8, which stands out for its exceptional versatility. The three different variants of chassis, a wide choice of equipment variants and increased engine power mean the crawler excavators deliver high productivity in the most diverse operating conditions. The R 958 G8 was developed specifically for challenging mining work. The machine impresses with its robust S-HD chassis, its mass excavation (ME) equipment and numerous specialist options for optimising performance in mining operations.

High Level of Availability
Designed with the most challenging conditions in mind, the models feature reinforced structures made from high-strength steels and steel castings. The entire construction of the machines is designed specifically to maximise operational readiness and minimise downtime. They are also designed to keep maintenance ultra-simple: with an easy-to-reach platform for accessing the engine, secure access points and an automatic central lubrication system, which is integrated into the human-machine interface. The lubrication concepts are automatically adapted for maximum protection and durability of the components.
Specifically Developed for Maximum Efficiency in Operation
Liebherr offers a wide choice of equipment options and chassis configurations that enable every machine to adapt to the precise requirements and the specific operation in question. The hydraulic systems are based on Liebherr Technology Positive Control and guarantee fast, sensitive and harmonised movements.
New assistance systems support the machine operators in their daily operations. LPE (Liebherr Power Efficiency) helps to reduce fuel consumption by up to 10 % − without compromising on performance. The Bucket Fill Assist (BFA) system automates the process of filling the bucket in order to maintain productivity levels in operation over the long term. Parallel to this, the Modetronic function adjusts the machine parameters to the requirements of every application to ensure optimum performance, whatever the operating conditions.
When it comes to machine operation, the models are fitted with an integrated passive 2D control system as standard, which was developed in collaboration with Leica Geosystems. This is complemented by a built-in, dynamic weighing system. The system provides 500 machine hours as standard to facilitate precise and controlled loading. A 3D control solution is also available as an optional extra, which can be expanded with semi-automated functions to increase precision and productivity further still.

Working Environment Featuring emCAB Cabin and INTUSI User Interface
The new models are fitted with the latest generation of emCAB operator’s cabins, providing a cutting-edge and comfortable working environment, optimally designed for the requirements of modern-day construction sites. In combination with the INTUSI human-machine interface, this ensures operation is intuitive and customisable thanks to carefully designed ergonomics and simplified access to the most important machine functions. The layout of the control elements has been optimised, which together with the overall design, ensure operators can clearly see the controls and can reach them quickly. This helps to reduce fatigue in operators throughout the entire working day. Ultra-precise electric joysticks ensure work movements are controlled with smoothness and precision, even in the most challenging fields of application. The optimised interplay of man and machine improves ease of use and promotes a high and constant level of productivity throughout the entire working cycle.
Enhanced Safety on the Construction Site
With its camera assistance systems as standard, the new product line improves the operator’s view of the working area for increased safety on the construction site. Available as an optional extra, Skyview 360° provides a complete all-round bird’s eye view. Safer access platforms, clear views of key operating fluid levels and low-lying refuelling and filling solutions further optimise the safety and efficiency of daily operations.
